Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk:All the schools in Haridwar and Dehradun will remain closed on Tuesday in view of the IMD issuing an alert forecasting thunderstorm and squall tomorrow in several parts of north India.
Authorities in both the districts have ordered the closure of all schools up to class 12 and Anganwadi centers following the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warning.
In Haryana, the state government closed schools for two days as a preventive measure in view of the weather warning. The Delhi government has also said that all evening schools (second shift which starts from the afternoon) will be shut on Tuesday.
The IMD on Monday warned that thunderstorms, squalls and gusty winds are likely to hit many parts of India, including Delhi, on Tuesday. It also warned of dust storm in Rajasthan.
The weather office said that several parts of north India could witness thunderstorm and squall tomorrow with winds gusting up to 50-70 kilometers per hour.
The IMD said, thunderstorm, accompanied by squall and hail, was very likely at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Tuesday, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh.
