Releasing a notification on Sunday, the government mention that the people will be able to avail 10 per cent reservation in central government jobs for various posts from the next month.

Recently, the Indian Parliament gave its assent to the 124th amendment to the Indian Constitution which aims to provide a ten per cent reservation in public employment and higher education for EWS of the Indian population. The bill was passed by Parliament during the winter session. President Ram Nath Kovind has since given his assent to the bill.

Eligibility to avail 10% reservation

• Those in the general category whose family income is below Rs 8 lakhs per annum

Meanwhile, various states governments in the country have implemented a ten per cent reservation in their respective states. Gujarat was the first state in the country to implement the new provision, followed by Telangana. Uttar Pradesh became the third state to approve the legislation.

In the latest development, Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan today said that general category quota will get NDA 10 per cent more votes in the upcoming elections. He asserted that Narendra Modi will be re-election as the prime minister. He said that people will reject the opposition’s proposed grand alliance due to its inherent contradiction and instability.

“Besides taking measures for Dalits, the government also granted constitutional status to the Other Backward Classes commission and has now given 10 per cent quota to the general category poor,” he said, adding that Modi government has touched all sections of society in its term.
