Police arrested 88 immigrants in a special conduct against illegal immigrants residing in Malaysia. Several Bangladeshi people were also arrested in the operation, authorities said. But how many Bangladeshi have been arrested in the operation, it is not known.
The Malaysian Police has launched a campaign titled ‘ops mega 3.0 Malaysia’ since September to seize illegal immigrants living in the country.
As part of the operation, the Immigration Police has arrested 88 illegal migrants, including Bangladesh, from the country’s Putrajaya, Federal Territory, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan area at 12:30 local time on Wednesday.
This is the first expedition to detain illegal immigrants after the country’s new Director General of the Department of Immigration Indira Khairul Dajemi took office.
The detainees are citizens of Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, India and Nepal. However, most of those detained were not allowed to work.
All illegal immigrants detained under the Immigration Rules and Regulations violation will be brought to the Immigration Detention Center.❐
