Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk: An all-round performance from Bangladesh helped them make the perfect start to their ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 campaign as their highest one-day international score inspired a 21-run win over South Africa at the Oval.

For Bangladesh, Mustafizur bagged three wickets after his national teams, who were clearly not the favourites in this clash, posted their highest ODI total to condemn South Africa to a second straight WC 2019 defeat.

Three wickets for @mustafiz90 as the @bcbtigers opened their #CWC19 campaign with a triumph over South Africa in London ✅

For South Africa, veteran batsman JP Duminy played well for 45 but Mustafizur Rahman grabbed the wicket of the left-hander to pick up his third of the day. This the first time in their World Cup history that South Africa managed to lose the first two games in a Cricket World Cup edition.

They were excellent tactically as well and South Africa simply did not have enough firepower in the end.

Some heavy hitting by @Sah75official and @mushfiqur15 steered Bangladesh to their highest ever @CricketWorldCup partnership as the @bcbtigers set South Africa 331 for victory.#RiseOfTheTigers #CWC19 pic.twitter.com/ymuiMDmscS

Earlier, South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis’ decision to field first backfired badly as Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan helped Bangladesh finish at 330/6, their highest one-day international score against South Africa.

Bangladesh rode on a record 142-run third wicket partnership between Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan to post their highest ever World Cup total.

While Bangladesh were on top for much of the innings, Imran Tahir’s spell between the 35th and 40th over helped the Proteas slow down the run rate before a late burst from Mahmudullah helped them get close to the 350-run mark.

Plenty of starts for the top order but unfortunately for @OfficialCSA, nobody could go on with the job.
