The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India has officially named Vikram Kumar Doraiswami as the next the Indian high commissioner to Bangladesh.
Doraiswami is currently an additional secretary at the ministry. He is expected to join his new assignment shortly, MEA said on Thursday.
Doraiswami will replace Riva Ganguly Das, the 1986 batch IFS officer.
Riva Ganguly arrived here on March 1 last year to take up her assignment. She is likely to leave Dhaka in the first week of October.
Vikram K Doraiswami, 45, joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1992. Prior to joining the Indian government, he worked as a journalist. He took a Masters’ degree in History from the University of Delhi.
Riva Ganguly Das is likely to take over as Secretary (East) at the MEA when the incumbent Vijai Thakur Singh retires in September.❐
