More than 50 million Americans have cast their ballots in advance in the US presidential election, a poll observer group reported the matter on Friday.
The US Presidential Election is set to be held on November 3. Incumbent President Donald Trump is contesting the polls for the second term. Democrat candidate Joe Biden has stood against him.
According to AFP, voters are casting their votes in advance to avoid crowds and long lines at polling stations in fear of coronavirus infection. The turnout is higher than ever before.
The group named the U.S. Election Project run by the University of Florida, said more than 35.5 million Americans have casted their votes by mail. In addition, more than 15 million people have thrown their ballot papers in the boxes prescribed by the government.
