Neil Armstrong and Baz Aldrin became the first two people to walk on the moon during NASA’s Apollo 11 mission, which was a monumental feat in technology and human achievement.
Armstrong jumped out of the lunar lander Eagle and gave his speech on “one small step”, and his colleague joined him a few minutes later.Together, with the help of hundreds more on Earth, they fulfilled the goal of former US President John F. Kennedy for the end of the Space Race.
But the YouTube channel “DarkDocs” revealed how the unmanned mission of the USSR crashed on the lunar surface on the same day as the USA during their series “Secretly failed Soviet landing on the moon”.
“So, the USSR intended to compete by launching the highly classified Luna 15 as the first vehicle to collect lunar soil and return it to Earth.”
“Its launch was deliberately scheduled for three days before the US mission to the moon.”
“For the Soviets, that was the case now or never. Nothing was known publicly about the Luna 15 flight plan, so NASA was very worried about the possible disruption of its Apollo 11 mission.”
Luna 15 was a robotic space mission of the Soviet Luna program and was their second attempt to bring the lunar soil back to Earth.
“The Soviets would eventually convince the United States not to worry,” the show said.
Historic Apollo 11 Moon Landing Footage
“A five-ton Soviet station approached the moon on July 17 and entered almost lunar orbit.”
“It was three days before the now-launched Apollo 11 mission arrived.”
“Due to erroneous calculations and errors, the Soviet unmanned aerial vehicle got stuck in lunar orbit, even after the landing of Apollo 11 on July 20. The Soviet controllers still had problems with calculations.”
“At a time when Armstrong and Aldrin were personally collecting lunar soil, Luna 15 was spinning overhead no less than 52 times.”
Photos shown during the documentary reveal evidence that Luna 15 crashed into the Moon hours before Armstrong and Aldrin returned to Earth.❐
