The Government of India has honoured father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.with the Gandhi Peace Prize 2020.
According to a report published in Times Now News, the government of India on Monday conferred the Gandhi Peace Prize 2020 on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Ministry of Culture said.
India also named Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said of Oman as the recipient of the prestigious prize for 2019.
Gandhi Peace Prize is an annual award instituted by the Government of India since 1995, the 125th Birth Anniversary commemoration year of Mahatma Gandhi. The award is given to individuals and institutions for their contribution towards social, economic and political transformation through non-violence and other Gandhian methods.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Dhaka on March 26 to attend celebrations of the golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence and the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
This time the award has been given for the last two years (2019 and 2020). Last, it was announced in 2018 for the last four years.❐
