Zahan Ara Dolon: The organizers have called for the success of the Bangladesh American Police Association (BAPA) and the Communication Workers of America’s (CWA-1162) T20 cricket tournament.
The call was made at a news conference in Jackson Heights, New York, on Monday, May 31. BAPA’s secretary Prince Alam welcomed everyone at the press conference.
BAPA President Captain Karam Chowdhury on the occasion of Memorial Day officially commemorated the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country. Our advanced professionals have tackled this difficult time with a historic adventure.
In a written statement, BAPA’s Media Liaison Officer Jamil Sarwar Johnny said that In times of crisis in the world’s most noisy city, media workers have worked like wartime. The moments of the ultimate catastrophe of humanity during the Corona period will be the history of all the efforts of all the professionals in the front row.
He said that the T20 cricket tournament is going to start with the combination of Bangladeshi officers working in the police and traffic agents of the city.
The inaugural T20 cricket tournament will be held on Monday, June 7 at 16-10 Beasley Pond Park in Jamaica, New York City. The inaugural ceremony will be attended by New York Police Commissioner Dermot Shea and Dennis Trainor, Central Vice President of the Communication Workers of America (CWA), an organization of traffic officers and professionals in the United States.
According to BAPA, the T20 tournament has been organized in an attempt to restore normalcy in the minds of the people. BAPA is hopeful that during these two months of summer, Bangladeshis and the people of other races and communities will also be able to play cricket and various other sports.
There will be 11 cricket teams in the tournament including CWA 1182 and BAPA. Not only Bangladeshis, people from other communities have also been involved in the tournament.
The T20 tournament will be inaugurated on Monday, June 7. Then the first match will be
held on June 13. The venue is Beasley Pond Park and Beach 58 in Jamaica. The tournament will run until June 27. If any match is canceled due to rain, the canceled match will be held on June 28, the schedule shows.
President Karam Chowdhury, First Vice President Ershadur Siddique, General Secretary Prince Alam, Media Liaison Jamil Sarwar were present at the press conference.
Saeed Islam, Chief Delegate, CWA Local 1182, Mohammad Uddin, Queen’s Delegate, CWA Local 1182, Saeed Utba, Manhattan Delegate, CWA Local 1182, Correspondence Secretary Saeed Ali, Event Coordinator Sardar Mamun was also present at the occasion.
