Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif on Friday said Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) election is a victory of democracy, though the ruling Awami League candidate could not win.
He came up with statements while he was inaugurating sugarcane crushing season of 2017-18 at Kushtia Sugar Mill in Kushtia this morning.
The Awami League central leader said that the free fair RCC election proved that the Election Commission (EC) is totally independent, adding that RCC polls also proved the BNP’s suspicion false on fair election under the present government.
Replying to another query of journalists, Hanif said the present government does not belief on disappearance and killing, saying that “the founder of BNP Ziaur Rahman had introduced the politics of disappearance and killing in the country after 1975 and his party BNP continued it.”
Abdul Quader, Managing Director of Khustia Sugar Mills presided over the function. Among others, district AL President Sadar Uddin Khan, General Secretary Asgar Ali, District Council Chairman Rabiul Islam and officials-employees of the mill were present at the meeting.
