Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi blew the 2019 Lok Sabha poll bugle for the Bharatiya Janta Party as he addressed the concluding session of BJP’s national convention at the Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on Saturday. PM Modi along with Home Minister Rajnath Singh, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, FM Arun Jaitley and former MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan arrived at the Ramlila Maidan  on Saturday morning and paid their tributes to Swami Vivekananda.

The PM lashed out at the opposition for criticizing the reforms initiated by his government on the social and economic front. He alleged the Congress of rampant corruption and took a jibe at them saying that according to media reports, under previous regimes, ‘middleman’ created hurdles for  the fighter jet deal as he was lobbying for a rival company. He lauded the BJP government for its reforms on uplifting the social status of women in the country. He said that people made fun of ‘ Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ for political opposition, but the govt has come a long way to free society of wrong beliefs that existed for decades.

On addressing the critical issue of farmers’ dismal condition, the Prime Minister said that BJP govt implemented recommendations of Swaminathan Commission report and is working hard to ensure 1.5 times increase income of farmers. He dismissed opposition’s idea of a Grand Alliance by saying that leaders of different parties were uniting against him as they wanted ‘mazboor’ and not ‘mazboot’ govt.

Earlier in the day, Union transport Minister Nitin Gadkari began the concluding session of the convention with his address where he highlighted that non-performance and corruption as the main features of the previous UPA govt. However, good governance, ease of business and development has been delivered by Modi ji and our govt in 4.5 yrs as we had promised in our manifesto.

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was next to address the convention, underlining the robust security measures implemented by the Modi government which  helped prevent a major terrorist attack in this country after 2014. This govt under the leadership of PM Modi has ensured one thing that there shall not be an opportunity for terrorists to disturb peace.

The two-day convention, inaugurated by party President Amit Shah at Ramlila Maidan on Friday, is being seen as BJP’s initial platform to set the agenda for the 2019 Lok Sabha poll campaign.

Addressing at the convention on day1, Amit Shah said, the bill providing 10 per cent reservation in jobs and education to Economically Weaker Upper caste sections will benefit crores of youth. He lamented the Congress of playing politics over the government’s initiatives which have been pending for years. Seeking another term for BJP-led government at the Centre, the BJP Chief termed the present dispensation as transparent, corruption-free and sensitive to the needs of the citizens.

Apart from the prime minister, his cabinet ministers, BJP chief ministers, MPs and senior party leaders, a least 12,000 delegates from across the country are expected to be at the convention.
