Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is once again likely to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from his parliamentary constituency Varanasi, as per sources close to the matter. PM Modi had won the 2014 General elections, contesting the polls from the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency.
Modi was a BJP candidate for the Lok Sabha from two constituencies: Varanasi and Vadodara. He won in both constituencies, defeating Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal in Varanasi and Madhusudan Mistry of the INC in Vadodara by 570,128 votes.
Modi, who was unanimously elected leader of the BJP, was appointed prime minister by India’s president. To comply with the law that an MP cannot represent more than one constituency, he vacated the Vadodara seat.[186]
