ODESSA, Fla. — A Florida woman is suing her neighbor for a paternity test, but the five kids in question are taking the gruff request in stride.
Kris Hedstrom filed the civil suit last month against her neighbor, Heather Dayner, seeking either paternal DNA for the goats she purchased or a refund, the Tampa Bay Times reported.
According to The Associated Press, Dayner offered to refund the $900 Hedstrom paid in exchange for the goats, but the lawsuit is the only response she has received to date.
According to the lawsuit, Hedstrom believed the five Nigerian Dwarf goats she purchased in December could be registered with the American Dairy Goat Association, a group that records goat pedigrees.
The suit also alleges Dayner told Hedstrom the father goat, Country Caprese Ace, was registered with the organization, but the association rejected Hedstrom’s application to register the babies because Dayner is not an active member, the Times reported.
In February, Hedstrom wrote a letter requesting the material required to prove paternity for kids Bella, Gigi, Rosie, Zelda and Margoat: about 40 hair follicles from Country Caprese Ace. That’s when Dayner offered to buy back the goats, but her offer went unheeded until the lawsuit was served in May, the Times reported.
