Bangladesh clinch five-wicket win against Australia in second T20

Bangladesh have won the second T20 international against Australia by 5 wickets, taking a 2-0 lead in the series.

Although at one point, it seemed that 121 runs target set by the Aussies would be challenging, Bangladesh won it comfortably at the end.

Soumya was once again disappointed going out for a duck; Naim couldn’t stay more than 13 balls. And once again Bangladesh failed to utilise the powerplay with only 38 runs for the loss of 2 wickets.

Shakib started flashy with 3 boundaries in his first three deliveries. Mahedi got a promotion at no.4 to keep the left-right combination. Both of them started aggressively and in a more T20 liked mindset. Shakib scored a quick 26 off 17 before being dismissed by Tye.

Skipper Mahmudullah came and gone with a duck. Mahedi played a fortune ridden innings of 23 before his luck eventually went out in the 12th over making it further tough for Bangladesh.

Shohan and Afif took charge from there and created a partnership of 56 runs off 44 balls to see Bangladesh over the line. This is the first time Bangladesh have won back-to-back games against Australia in any format.

Afif once again was the main protagonist of Bangladesh batting, scoring 37 from 31 deliveries. Shohan also played a decent knock of 22. Every Aussie bowler except Marsh took one wicket each. He was declared the man of the match for his match-winning knock.

Earlier in the first innings, Australia managed to score only 121 runs which didn’t look convincing at all. Only Marsh and Henriques got some decent scores (45 and 30). Mustafizur Rahman took 3 wickets and was the peak of the bowlers. Shoriful picked 2, Shakib and Mahedi picked 1 each.
