Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk: A 600 sq foot flat in Nagpada, belonging to Haseena Parkar, the sister of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, has been auctioned for Rs. 1.80 crore.  The reserve price for the flat was earlier fixed for Rs 1.69 crore and the earnest money deposit (EMD) was Rs 25 lakh.

Investigative agencies who are in hot pursuit of India’s most wanted believed to be under the aegis of Pakistan had kept a close watch on those who were interested in purchasing the flat. The flat was recently attached by the government.

Reports say the flat had eight bidders through auctions via sealed envelopes and e-auction at Yashwantrao Chavan Pratisthan in Nariman Point this morning. A notice for the same was issued last month and the last day for application was on March 28.

The person who won the auction had made the bid via sealed envelope. His identity is not known yet.

The auction was reportedly held by the Ministry of Finance under the Smuggling and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act, (SAFEMA).

The property is flat number 12, A wing 1st floor with balcony, Gordon Hall Apartment, Nagpada.

In 2017, three south Mumbai properties belonging to Dawood Ibrahim were auctioned for a massive Rs 11.58 crore. The properties were also put under the hammer by the ministry of finance, under the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act.

The three properties are Hotel Raunaq Afroz, also known as Delhi Zaika, Shabnam Guest House and six rooms in Damarwala building.

The Saifee Burhani Upliftment Trust made the highest bid for the three properties.

About Haseena Parkar:

    • Haseena Parkar, 56, was allegedly the caretaker of Dawood’s legal and illegal businesses. She was infamously known as “the Lady Don of Dongri” and had died of a heart attack on July 6th, 2014. She left behind two daughters and a son — her eldest son Danish was killed in a road accident.

    • Lady Don — Haseena Apa (sister) to the Dimtimkar locality of Dongri — continued to reside here after Dawood and his family fled India after the 1993 Bombay blasts.

    • Some reports say Dawood had left back around 54 benami properties for Haseena to manage.

    • She continued to occupy the entire seventh floor in the landmark Gordon House till last breath.

    • Haseena gained notoriety for managing Dawood’s extortion business, acquired overseas rights to Bollywood films, ran hawala rackets, meddled in Mumbai’s famous cable wars, and settled disputes in return for hefty fees, say reports.

  • Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor played ‘Haseena Parkar’ in Apoorva Lakhia’s crime biopic in 2017. The movie failed to impress critics and did not perform well at the Box Office.
