Aflood alert has been issued in several districts of Uttar Pradesh due to an increase in the water level of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers. The Ganga and Yamuna rivers are flowing near the danger mark.
Many villages in Tehsil Sadar, Soraon, Phulpur, Handia, Bara, Karchana and Meja are likely to be affected due to floods. Alerts have been sounded in areas like Ashoknagar, Cachar Kareli, Sadianpur.
About 18 lakh cusecs of water was released from Dhawalpur Barrage in Rajasthan due to which the water level of Ganga and Yamuna rivers has reached near the danger level of 184.73 metres.
The administration claimed that all arrangements had been made to tackle the flood-like situation. A control room has also been opened in the collectorate premises where the situation in every district is being closely monitored.
“Control room number 0532-2641577, 2641578 has been issued. About 98 police posts and 110 shelters have been built in view of the floods. Officers, doctors, veterinary doctors and paramedical staff have been deployed at these posts,” an official said.
He said two motor boats were available with the administration, four with the development authority and one each with the Public Works Department (PWD) and the irrigation department.
“Apart from this, 1,000 private boats (including small, medium and large) and five private motor boats are also available. Preparations are being made to deal with any kind of unexpected situation. Rescue teams with 30 divers have also been kept on standby,” the official said.
