Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk: The West Indies team dream of winning a test match in India for close to 24 years seems to get shattered. The Indian team dominated the Windies on stumps at Day 2, with some great performance with the ball and brilliant knocks from Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, as the Caribbean team trail by 555 runs on Day 2 in Rajkot.

The India bowlers bowled well as out of all the five bowlers, apart from Umesh Yadav, everyone was able to pick up a wicket. It won’t be a surprise if the West Indies could be asked for a follow-on.

The last time West Indies managed to win a Test was way back in December 1994, when they won the 3rd Test in Mohali by 243 runs to draw the series 1-1.

The second day of the first Test was a dream outing for both Kohli and Jadeja. It took 8 years for Jadeja to score his first international ton which became a part of India’s highest total against West Indies in Test cricket. A ball after the veteran left-arm spinner reached this feat, India declared the innings at 649/9.

While wickets kept falling at regular intervals, Jadeja presented some extraordinary piece of batting and posted 50 runs in 87 balls. With his 10th fifty, there came out the epic sword which he waved in the air.

Virat Kohli scripted a new chapter in the history book of Indian cricket. The Indian skipper slammed the 24th century of his Test career with a boundary and surpassed the cricketing legends with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Steve Smith. He eventually became the 2nd fastest batsman to get 24th Test ton and is currently the highest run-scorer in whites in 2018.

India posted 506 runs on the board, at a loss of 5 wickets by the end of the 1st session. Skipper Virat Kohli was batting bravely on 120 and was accompanied with Ravindra Jadeja who remained unbeaten on 19.

After resuming the game at 364/4, India carried on their run-scoring in a similar momentum as of the first day. Kohli and Pant made the Windies bowlers toil hard for a wicket and kept on piling up runs on the board.

The duo from Delhi did a magnificent job at the crease. Pant, who was playing just the fourth Test of his international career, slammed the first half-century on the Indian soil which he claimed with a huge six. After reaching this milestone, the 21-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman shifted the gear and was heading towards his 2ndcentury at a strike rate of over 100.
