The 15-year rule of Awami League in Bangladesh came to an end on Aug 5 last year.
Former premier Sheikh Hasina fled to India on this date, who had become a close ally of the Modi government.
Relations between India and Bangladesh have worsened since then. The reactions of the rulers of the two countries to various incidents have also sparked tensions.
However, the two sides have maintained the customary exchange of greetings.
Modi conveyed his greetings in an X post after the Yunus-led interim administration took charge on Aug 8 last year, expressing hope that “normalcy will return” very soon.
The chief advisor assured full security to all minorities, including Hindus, in Bangladesh in a phone call with Modi on Aug 16.
