Jalalabad Association’s Iftar Party in New York

ZahanAra Dolon: On 3 April, two years after the outbreak, the Jalalabad Association of Sylhet hosted an Iftar party. The Iftar celebration was held on the second day of the month of Ramadan at Gulshan Terrace in Woodside, NY. According to the organisation’s members, everyone was spontaneously involved in the Iftar party of the Jalalabad Association.

The whole auditorium was filled to the brim. Many people from neighboring states, including New York, joined the Iftar party. Concerned people said that this was one of the most successful Iftar gatherings in the history of the Jalalabad Association. Moinul Haque Chowdhury Helal, General Secretary Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury Shefaz, Iftar convener Moinul Islam, and Member Secretary Rokon Hakim kept a close eye on every detail. In particular, the Jainamaz given by the organizer, Moinul Islam, touched the hearts of all.

At the Iftar party, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Bangladesh Society M. Aziz, acting President of Bangladesh Society Abdur Rahim Hawlader, Advocate Nasir Uddin, MM Shaheen, Mojibur Rahman, Rana Ferdous Chowdhury, Member of the Board of Trustees of Jalalabad Association Azimur Rahman Borhan, and General Editor Fahad Solaiman were the guests. Mohammad Alam Nami, Badrul Hossain Khan, Syed Shawkat Ali, Abdul Basit, Badrun Nahan Khan Mita, Prominent Industrialist Zahirul Islam, Jalalabad Association Chief Election Commissioner Ataur Rahman Selim, Golden Age Home Care President Shah Newaz, Misbah Majid, Prabin Member Nur, Rumana Ahmed Jui, daughter of the President of Bangladesh Society Kamal Ahmed, were present on the occasion.

On the same day, the Election Commission of the Jalalabad Association sold 33 nominations. Of those, 22 nominations were taken for the Badrul-Moinul panel.
