Oscar-winning Indian composer and music director AR Rahman has come under criticism for singing Kazi Nazrul Islam’s song ‘Karar Oi Louhakpat’. Pandit Ajay Chakraborty, India’s famous Bengali classical musician, is demanding his trial on the charge of distorting the melody of the song.

Ar Rahman demands justice He said to the Indian media, ‘It will not be enough to say dhikka. It should be a case! A man as famous as AR Rahman, what did he do! Sumitabrata Dutta — what a beautiful song he sang! He (Sumitabrata) could have at least listened to the song before distorting it like this.’

The song was used in the film ‘Pippa’ directed by Raja Krishna Menon. The film is releasing on Amazon Prime Video tonight (November 10). Its special screening has already been done. The song has also been released. Bengali singers Tirtha Bhattacharya, Rahul Dutta, Piyush Das, Shalini Mukhopadhyay and others have given their voices to the song with music by AR Rahman.

According to netizens, AR Rahman has changed the essence of the song while making this song composed by poet Kazi Nazrul! Bengalis have been listening to the song for so long, no similarity can be found. Nazrul music lovers are angry with this.

Netizens say, ‘Kara ai louhakpat/ Broke fel, kar re lopat’ gives goosebumps when they hear the song. The feeling of patriotism moves the mind. The lyrics and melody of the song are thought provoking, leave an impression on the mind. AR Rahman broke the hearts of the audience by presenting that song in Hindi film ‘Pippa

In the comments section of the song published on AR Rahman’s YouTube platform, a person named Soma Patra wrote, ‘The song is related to the freedom of our country, which makes us bow our heads to our great revolutionaries. No one has the right to spoil it. I did not expect this from an artist like AR Rahman. As a listener, I objected strongly to this.’
