Oikyafront gets permission to hold rally in Ctg tomorrow

Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk: The Jatiya Oikyafront, the newly floated alliance of the BNP and several other parties, has got permission to hold a rally in Chattogram city tomorrow.

Chattogram police has given permission to the alliance to hold the rally in Kazir Dewri area instead of Laldighi Maidan of the port city tomorrow, Shahdat Hossain, president of BNP Chattogram city unit, told The Daily Star.

The rally will start at 2:00pm and Dr Kamal Hossain will be present as the chief guest, he said.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other leaders of the alliance will be also present at the rally, said Shahdat.

The Oikyafront has been given permission along with some conditions to hold a rally in front of Chattogram city unit BNP office tomorrow, Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman told The Daily Star this noon.

The alliance leaders will have to keep one side of the road open for plying of vehicles, said the CMP chief.

The rally will have to end by 5:00pm, he added.

Earlier, the Jatiya Oikyafront submitted an application to the CMP seeking its permission to hold a rally at Laldighi Maidan.

On October 24, the alliance held it first-ever rally in Sylhet peacefully.

The Jatiya Oikyafront is an alliance of BNP, Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikya Prokriya, ASM Abdur Rab’s Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, and Mahmudur Rahman Manna’s Nagorik Oikya.
