The COVID-19 pandemic has forced educational institutions to shift to online classes. While the Centre is still mulling over re-opening schools and colleges and encouraging the online classes, many have raised concerns over a learning gap being created by e-education.
According to a recent UNICEF report, only 24 per cent of Indian households have internet connections to access e-education. There is also a large rural-urban and gender divide that is likely to widen the learning gap across high, middle and low-income families, it said.
The Remote Learning Reachability report was issued by UNICEF on Thursday (August 27). It expressed concerns over children from economically disadvantaged families struggling with access to remote learning.❑
