Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk: Soumya Sarkar has been amongst the run since returning home from the Asia Cup tournament. His performances in the National Cricket League even gave the Tigers’ coach Steve Rhodes something to think about.

Today, Soumya once again showcased his scoring form by striking a hundred in the practice match against the touring Zimbabwe team at the BKSP today. BCB XI won without any hiccups as Soumya, captaining the BCB XI, led the charge with an unbeaten 114-ball 102, hitting 13 fours and a six. Chasing a target of 179, BCB XI lost the wickets of only opener Mizanur Rahman (8) and Fazle Rabbi (13), who is part of the Tigers squad for the upcoming ODI series.

Mosaddek Hossain also hit an unbeaten 33 off 48 deliveries before retiring hurt but BCB XI won with eight wickets left and 11 overs to spare.

Earlier, Despite captain Hamilton Masakadza’s ton, Zimbabwe were bowled out for a paltry 178.

Coming in to open the batting, Masakadza was in fine form during his 138-ball 102 but kept running out of partners thick and fast as Zimbabwe slumped to 5 for 47 in 16 overs. A 124-run sixth-wicket stand between Masakdza and Elton Chigumbura saw Zimbabwe move towards a meaningful scoreline but once Mohammad Saifuddin bowled Chigumbura after his 47-run knock, it took just eight more deliveries for the innings to fold.

Ebadat Hossain was the star of the show bagging five wickets while Saifuddin, recalled into the side for the upcoming ODI series took three wickets for BCB XI.
