Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk:For Democrats, to win the US mid-term election, the importance of Bangladeshi-American along with the other immigrant communities is immense. That is why unity was call upon to everyone in the South Asian conference. During the evening of October 11, people from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Malaysia and Indonesia was participated in a rally at the Belzino Party Hall in Jackson Heights, New York City.
The welcome speech was given by Joy Chowdhury, a descent of Bangladeshi-American. Democrat Party treasurer Joy Chowdhury reminded everyone that if Republicans win their majority again in both House and the Senate during this mid-term election on November 6, then no one will be able to stop their anti-immigrant activities. And the immigrants will be a big victim of such result.
Bangladeshi-American descent Khorshed Khandakar said that such mistake should not be repeated. To defeat Republicans everyone needs to work side by side.
New York City Councilor Costa Constantinees said that, today the history and the tradition of America is vulnerable and unprotected. Innocent immigrants are being victimized by trump administration. Today the American leadership is questioned all over the world.
State ambassador David Waypin said, “The importance of 6 November election is immense. To keep the America’s leadership strong this election will be historical. In simple terms, to defeat Republicans unity is the only way. By keeping all disagreements and discrepancies aside we must win a victory in the Congress.”
Determine to end all divisions within the immigrant community, more speeches was given by Bangladeshi-American Business Association’s Convenor Amjad Hossain and Member Secretary Fahad Solaiman, Community Leader Mohammed N. Mujumder, Shah Nawaz, Morshed Alam, Taibur Rahman Harun, Engineer Mohammad Sadiq, Sabita Das, Nepalese Consul General Narayan Monami, Indian Consul General Piyush Patel, Faruk Hossain Majumdar, Alamgir Khan Alam.
It is to be mentioned that, few weeks ago Joy Chowdhury took similar initiative for another event at the Worldfare Marina Party hall. Now it is very much visible that, the attempt to tie the harmony between the South Asian’s in mainstream politics in the United States, is an ongoing process.
