Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk: After Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday took a potshot at Narendra Modi on religion, where he said “What is the essence of Hinduism? What does the Gita say? That knowledge is with everybody, knowledge is all around you. Every living being has knowledge. Our PM says he is a Hindu but he doesn’t understand the foundation of Hinduism. What kind of a Hindu is he?”, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj hit back by saying “for years, Congress party presented him as a secular leader but near polls when they realised that Hindus are in majority, they created this image.”
While addressing a press conference in Jaipur, Swaraj said “Rahul Gandhi said PM doesn’t know the meaning of being a Hindu. He said that because he & Congress are confused about his religion and caste.”
Swaraj also “I’d like to remind Mr. Chidambaram that in UPA’s tenure IMF & World Bank listed Indian economy in the fragile 5, it was listed as one the economies that were on decline. Today these two organizations themselves call India the fastest growing economy.”
Earlier today, INC Chief Rahul Gandhi attacked the ruling government on several issues ranging from development, women empowerment, religion and even surgical strike. He questioned PM Modi and Bharatiya Jatana Party (BJP)-led Central government over the surgical strike that happened in 2016. “Government had turned a military asset into a political asset to benefit itself during the Uttar Pradesh elections,” he said adding it was not only BJP government which did surgical strike. “Surgical strikes had been carried out during Manmohan Singh’s tenure as well but it was kept secret as per Army’s request.
Gandhi went on to speak about educational facilities provided by Modi government, “Government has provided people with health insurance but there are no public sector hospitals to avail those facilities. The government does not allocate enough funds to the public sector care centre and public sector educational institutions.”
