Bangladeshi immigrants first English weekly, ‘Weekly The Generation’, has debuted in New York, USA. The New York-based organization Shah Group has designed, endeavoured, and accomplished the publishing of the ‘weekly The Generation’.

On September 26, the founder of the Shah Group, Shah J. Choudhury, organized the launching ceremony at the New York LaGuardia Marriott Hotel. The national anthems of the United States and Bangladesh were performed by Alvin at the event.

According to Shah J. Choudhury, English has become the primary means of communication among the new generation of Bangladeshi immigrants. Furthermore, many of them have never been to Bangladesh and have little knowledge of the country. However, the Bengali people have thousands of years of history. Language is isolating this new generation from its roots. We need to interact with them in English and introduce them to the country. The desire to publish ‘Weekly The Generation’ arose from this obligation.

Our new generation will run ‘Weekly The Generation’, and we’ll be backing them, Shah J. Choudhury continued. They’ll eventually assume complete ownership of the newspaper. Additionally, Bangladesh will become more widely known to the mainstream people of America. Shah J. Choudhury added, “One more thing: ‘Weekly The Generation’ will represent not only the Bangladeshi community but all immigrant communities in the United States, particularly the South Asian communities.”

According to the Asian Affairs Adviser to the New York City Mayor, Fahad Solaiman, “The Generation is our community’s first English newspaper, and I am very proud of that.” Shah J. Choudhury has been a friend of mine since the beginning. He has contributed greatly to our community. Now in New York, no event seemed viable without his patronage.

Fauzia J. Choudhury, an editorial board member, greeted the South Asian community and stated that ‘Weekly, The Generation’ will act as a communication tool for our community. Also, the information will be used to help us establish a new ecosystem. Today, not only was a new newspaper formed, but also a new unity.

The editor of the newspaper, Sadia J. Choudhury, declared, “Today, a new possibility has opened up for us.” She invited everyone to ‘Weekly the Generation’.

At the ceremony, the newspaper launched with a special issue of 96 pages in an increased format. Several luminaries from Bangladesh and New York delivered speeches and greetings on this occasion.

At the ceremony, liberation warriors from Bangladesh and the United States were notably honored.

Guests present at the event were: Senator John Liu; Fahad Solaiman, New York City Mayor’s Asian Affairs Adviser; AKM Fazlul Haque, Adviser of Weekly The Generation; Moinul Islam; Moynu Zaman Chowdhury; Nazmul Ahsan, editor and publisher of ‘Saptahik Parichoy’; Sarathi Shikder, founder of Anandadhavni Inc; Anwar Zahid, president of the Sunflower Brokerage; Belal Chowdhury, businessman and community activist;Giyas Ahmed, Chairman and CEO of Immigrant Elder Home Care; Ziaur Rahman Leetu, President of Digital Security Systems and Networking Inc.; Harun Bhuiyan, President of Khamar Bari; Md.
