Zahan Ara Dolon: A two-days film festival will take place in New York City to celebrate the birth of legendary actress Suchitra Sen.
Suchitra Sen Memorial USA will be organizing the festival on 30-31 March in collaboration with the Shah Group at Nabanna Hall Room, Jackson Heights.
According to the organisers, the film festival will be inaugurated by actress Moushumi, winner of three National Film Award.
Renowned personalities will discuss Bengalis films at the event as well as the exhibition of films featuring Suchitra Sen.
In a response to the film festival, actor Lutfun Nahar Lata said that Suchitra Sen is the name of a legendary actress. Her tireless work and pursuit have given a glorious identity to Bengali cinema. She is one of the great pioneers of the art film industry. My gratitude to those who are constantly working to preserve her immortal memory.
The director of Suchitra Sen Memorial USA, Gopal Sanyal, announced that a film would be shown on day 1 and two on day 2.
“We will meet again after the pandemic,” he added. Viewers will return home with nostalgia after watching the movie starring Uttam-Suchitra.
The Shah Group is collaborating with the festival. The legendary actress, Suchitra Sen, was born on April 6, 1931, in Pabna, Bangladesh. She spent her childhood and adolescent years on Hemsagar Lane, Gopalpur, Pabna. After partition in 1947, their family moved to India.
