Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk: The Sylhet Cricket Stadium will hold it’s first international ODI match tomorrow. The venue has not been a happy hunting ground for the Tigers as they lost both their first Test and T20 matches there.
Skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza however was not part of either of those teams and tomorrow when he leads Bangladesh in picturesque Sylhet, he will be not looking at the past and felt positive mindset is the way to go.
“Actually I don’t have much experience at this venue. I played three matches in the BPL. There was dew and that was an issue. We have to see how it is now. I don’t have much experience to share. Overall, there is no use thinking of these things. The situation is a crunch moment and we have to give our best.
“I think it is one of Bangladesh’s best. Sylhet is a beautiful city and the surrounding areas are also beautiful. So if you are talking about the view, then of course it is one of the best,” he added, commenting on the beautiful Sylhet ground.
The skipper had previously stated that Bangladesh will still be at home in Sylhet. Once again he reminded those present there of this fact. “I said in Dhaka that it is our country still, our conditions and our supporters. So there is no chance to play negatively. It is true that we have not played a lot of cricket here, but that does not mean that the weather and conditions have changed completely.
The wicket is likely to be have atleast a bit of surprise in store, Mashrafe felt the wicket will be similar to Mirpur pitch which would favour the batsmen and it would not be like the one that Bangladesh and West Indies played in during the Test series.
“Haven’t seen it yet. I came here after the meeting. Everyone said that it will be similar to Mirpur, and maybe batting-friendly. That is how it is usually here. If you set aside what we saw in the Test, the wicket here is usually batting-friendly,” he concluded.
