Bhopal: On Saturday, a woman riding a scooter was compelled to remove her hijab by some in Bhopal, which sparked outrage on social media.According to reports, the woman was riding pillion with a man when some people stopped her on a narrow street in Bhopals Islam Nagar and asked her to remove her hijab while she was protesting, clearly crying.In the video, a man is seen claiming to be a disgrace to the community, according to police.People who had arrived there suspected the woman was with a Hindu man, so they stopped the scooter.
Two of the men seen stopping the scooter were arrested and released after a warning not to repeat the offending man.In the afternoon, a man and a woman were escorted to Islam Nagar by the same woman.She was asked to remove her hijab and show her face by some people who stopped her.According to police officer RS Verma, the people believed the man was Hindu and the girl Muslim, but police officer Verma told news agency PTI that no lawsuit has been registered, but that preventive action has been taken against the two men seen in the video, who were let off with a caution to not repeat such a stunt.
