Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk:Unknown criminals shot five people dead and injured six while they were on way to attend the funeral of Rangamati’s Naniarchar upazila chairman Shaktimaan Chakma today.
The deceased were identified as Tapan Jyoti Chakma alias Barma, Sujon Chakma, Konok Chakma, Setu Chakma and Sujit.
“The assailants opened fire indiscriminately at a microbus by which the victims were travelling to Naniarchar” said Md Jahangir Alam, assistant superintendent of police (sadar circle) in Rangamati.
Tapan, Sujon, Konok, Setu and driver of the microbus, Sujit, died on the spot in Betchhari area around 12noon, the police official said.
The injured people were taken to Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital, our local correspondent reports.
The victims were going to join the funeral in Naniarchar upazila from Khagrachhari district.
Shaktimaan Chakma, the vice president of Parbattya Chattogram Jana Samhati Samity’s MN Larma faction, was killed in a gun attack yesterday morning.
