Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that corona vaccine will be preserved in EPI stores of 64 districts and 483 upazilas of the country.
She was responding to a written question in the Jatiya Sangsad by Member of Parliament Ahsanul Islam Titu (Tangail-6) on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister said, “20 per cent of the total population of the country or 3.40 crore people will get 6.80 crore doses of vaccine. In the first phase of the distribution, 1.50 crore people in the country will receive two doses of the vaccine in two weeks”.
“The government has taken the initiative from the beginning,” she said. The government has already finalized a tripartite agreement between Serum Institute of India and Beximco Pharmaceuticals to purchase Oxford-AstraZeneca -invented Covid-19 vaccine. The vaccine will arrive in the last week of January.
Sheikh Hasina said, “According to the agreement, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd will be responsible for delivering vaccine directly to the designated EPI stores in six phases”.❐
