The Jalalabad Association’s leaders discussed with the Foreign Minister

Zahan Ara Dolon: In an exchange of views meeting, Bangladesh Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen met with the leaders of the Jalalabad Association of America.

The exchange meeting was held on Wednesday evening at Navanna Party Hall in Jackson Heights, New York. It was presided over by the president of the organization, Badrul Khan. The meeting was jointly conducted by General Secretary Moinul Islam and Deputy General Secretary Rokon Hakim, as the chief guest was Bangladesh Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen.

The JAA leaders discussed their various problems and prospects in this exchange meeting. The Jalalabad Association organized this meeting on the occasion of the Foreign Minister’s visit to America. In his speech, the foreign minister detailed various groundbreaking initiatives of the government for the development of expatriates. He stated that the government has taken various developmental steps with expatriates in mind.

The foreign minister said that Bangladesh is advancing under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina. If this continues, Bangladesh will become a developed country before 2041. Therefore, support from expatriates should continue. A faction is conspiring to stop this development. Every patriotic expat should keep their eyes peeled in this regard.

The Consulate General of New York, Dr Mohammad Monirul Islam, Jalalabad Association Advisor Ajmal Hossain Kunu, Adv Nasir Uddin, Freedom Fighter Tofail Chowdhury, and Queens County District Leader at Large Attorney Moin Chowdhury were special guests on the occasion.

The general secretary of Bangladesh Society Ruhul Amin Siddiqui, Jalalabad Association’s former advisor MA Salam, Bangladesh Society’s former general secretary, Rana Ferdous Chowdhury, politician Shahed Chowdhury, freedom fighter Mujahidul Islam, and journalist Mohammad Ullah were present as guests.

The Jalalabad Association’s Treasurer, Mohammad Alim, delivered a welcome speech on the occasion. Later, Azimur Rahman Burhan, a member of the Bangladesh Society Trustee Board, Founder, President and former Deputy General Secretary of the Jamaica Bangladesh Friends Society, Fakhrul Islam Delwar, spoke at the event.

The Nabiganj Upazila Welfare Society USA’s President Sheikh Jamal Hossain, community activist Hasan Ali, Heldon Democratic Club Commissioner Dewan Bajlu Chowdhury, politician Abdur Rahim Badsha, poet and lyricist Gaus Uddin Khan, former student leader and organizer Rezaul Alam Apu, and others also spoke there.

At the event, there were: former advisor of the Jalalabad Association, Sadrun Noor; former General Secretary of the Jalalabad Association and Chief Election Commissioner, Ataur Rahman Salim;

Election Commissioner and former Vice President, Sabbir Hossain; former president of Biyanibazar Samiti, Azizur Rahman Sabu; former president of Biyanibazar Samiti, Masudul Haque Sanu; former president of Biyanibazar Samiti, Mostafa Kamal; and general secretary of Biyanibazar Samiti, Nazmul Haque Mahbub;

Mr. Kazi Kayes, politician; Shams Uddin, President of the Queen’s Bangladesh Society; general secretary, Mofizul Islam Bhuiyan Rumi; and former president, Tofail Chaudhury; the President of Habiganj Sadar Samiti, Mia Md Ashkir; the former president of Habiganj District Welfare Samiti, Syed Nazmul Hasan Kubad; and community activist Moniruzaman Chowdhury;

Haji Nizam Uddin, a politician; Faqar Uddin, a politician; Abdur Rahman, a politician; Shamsul Abedin, a politician; Former Chairman, Nazim Uddin; Shaheen Ajmal, a politician; Jalalabad Association’s former Vice President, Joseph Chowdhury; Jalalabad Association’s former Law and International Resource, Shamim Ahmed Monir; Jalalabad Association’s former Social Welfare Secretary, Md. Jamil Ansari; and Jalalabad Association’s former Acting General Secretary, Noor Elam Ziku;

Mohammad Jahangir, a politician; businessman, Belal Ahmed Chowdhury; former vice president of the Habiganj District Welfare Association, Ashfakul Haque Chowdhury; and the general secretary of the Kulaura Bangladesh Association, Javed Ahmed;

Prof. Abdur Rahman, former President of the Habiganj Sadar Samiti; Md. Tajul Islam Manik, a member of the Habiganj Sadar Samiti; Bashir Uddin, former President of the Osmani Nagar Association; and Helal Uddin Chowdhury, a former Bangladesh National Football Team player;

Shah J Choudhury, chairman of the Shah Group; businessman, AKM Fazlul Haque; JBB organizing secretary, Atiqul Islam Zakir; community activists, Mustafa Kamal and Abdul Khaliq, and others.

From the executive committee: Vice President, Md Lokman Hossain (Luku); Vice President, Md Shafi Uddin Talukder; Vice President, Mohammad Shaheen Kamali; Publicity and Office Secretary, Faisal Alam; Social Welfare Secretary, Zahid Ahmed Khan; Women’s Affairs Secretary, Sutpa Chowdhury; Member, Helim Uddin; and Member, Delwar Hossain Manik were present at the meeting.
