Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk:Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad on Tuesday came down heavily on the government saying there is no democracy, rule of law, freedom of speech and people’s rights in the country.
Ershad, also special envoy to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said people want to get rid of the present situation. And it is not possible to bring the change without Jatiya Party in power, he added.
The JP chief made the remarks while speaking at a programme at the party’s central office in Dhaka marking May Day.
“We have nothing in the country. We don’t have peace, happiness, freedom of speech, democracy, security and people’s right,” Ershad said adding, “Farmers don’t have food in their houses, unemployed youths don’t have jobs, there is no rule of law and justice in the country,”
The former military ruler said our hands are chained. We will have to break that chain and this should be our pledge on the May Day.
Pointing to the government’s slogan that the country has turned into a digital one, Ershad said abuse of drugs, especially yaba, has spread all over the “digital country.”
“We see news on killing and death when we go through newspaper. Country’s people want to live in peace. Therefore, change in the government is a must to get rid of the situation and only Jatiya Party is able to bring that change in the country,” he said.
The JP chief also said that incidents of rape have increased a lot due to absence of good governance.
