Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk: Arrested for fanning rumours during the recent student protests, actress Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed has thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after walking out on bail.

In a Facebook post, she thanked the premier for “giving her the opportunity” to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha along with her family, especially with her daughter Prakriti.

The actress uploaded a post from her husband Ehsan Rahman Zia’s Facebook account; where she wrote: “I lack the appropriate words to thank honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for giving me the opportunity to feel the joy of Eid along with my sole daughter Prokriti. She (the prime minister) is a tested, real and most capable guardian of the 16 crore people of Bangladesh, apart from her role of leading the country she is an affectionate mother which I could realise being a mother myself.”

A Dhaka court on Tuesday granted ad-interim bail to actress Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed considering her health condition in connection with a case filed under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act for allegedly spreading rumours on social media during the recent students’ movement for safe roads.

Her bail will remain valid till October 2 when the next hearing on the case will be held.

Apart from thanking the prime minister, Nawshaba also greeted all with Eid felicitations: “I extend my belated greetings of Eid-ul-Azha to all. You all know I was granted bail by the lower court just the day before Eid. Through this the independent judiciary of the country has established a glaring example of humanity. I am overwhelmed with joy. My endless gratitude goes to my lawyers.”

She also thanked the law enforcers and the doctors and nurses at Dhaka Medical College Hospital saying that, “Every member of police, Rab, Cyber Crime Division and the jail authorities at Kashimpur Central Jail protected me with compassion, I am grateful to them.”

The actress also thanked her fellow artistes, newsmen, university teachers and students for staying beside her in the hard time.

Nawshaba was detained from Uttara on August 4 for allegedly spreading rumours on social media about the student movement. Police said she did so to create anarchy and confuse people.

The next day she was placed on a four-day remand after police produced her before the court with a seven-day remand prayer. On August 10, she was again granted a fresh two-day remand for quizzing.
