He was born on this day in 1930 in Tungipara village of Gopalganj district. On the night of August 15, 1975, he was brutally killed by the assassins of the Father of the Nation.

The Ministry of Women and Children Affairs has taken a detailed program to celebrate the birth anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib nationally. This year’s theme is ‘Bangamata is a brave symbol of sacrifice and beauty’.

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatun Nesa Indira will preside over the function to mark the birth anniversary of Bangamata at the Bangladesh Shishu Academy auditorium.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be the chief guest at a function to mark the birth anniversary of Bangamata Fazilatunnesa Mujib on a virtual platform from Ganobhaban. Awami League presidium member Begum Matia Chowdhury will present the keynote address at the birth anniversary function.

On the birth anniversary of Bangamata, the ministry will provide cash assistance to the distressed women through sewing machines and mobile banking with the aim of providing financial assistance and employment to the women affected by the Corona.

According to the list of beneficiaries received from all the deputy commissioners’ offices, 3,200 sewing machines and 1,200 destitute and helpless women in 64 districts will be given a total of Tk 28 lakh at a cost of Tk 2,000. At the same time 100 laptops will be distributed among the poor meritorious students of Gopalganj district.

The Gopalganj Deputy Commissioner’s Office will have 5 selected beneficiaries for receiving financial grants, 5 for receiving sewing machines and 5 for receiving laptops. The money will be transferred electronically to the mobile numbers of the officially selected beneficiaries through the Prime Minister. On behalf of the Prime Minister, the Deputy Commissioner of Gopalganj will hand over sewing machines and laptops to the beneficiaries present.

In coordination with the Deputy Commissioners across the country, departments and agencies under the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs will organize discussion meetings to celebrate the birth anniversary of Bangamata.❐
