Bangladesh beat England by 50 runs in the third and final ODI of three-match series, thanks to Shakib Al Hasan’s allround performance at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram on Monday (March 6).

After scoring a 71-ball 75, the all-rounder bagged four wickets to star in a 50-run victory to prevent England cleansweep.

Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim and Najmul Hossain Shanto all hit fifties but England’s bowlers restricted Bangladesh to 246 all out. The hosts elected to bat first but were bowled out in 48.5 overs.

Shakib made 75 while Mushfiq and Shanto added 70 and 53 respectively.

Jofra Archer picked up 3-35, while Adil Rashid and Sam Curran were the other two stand-out bowlers with 2-21 and 2-51.

Curran struck early, handing opener Liton Das a duck in the very first over before he dismissed Tamim Iqbal for 11.

In Chase, the visitors were bowled out 196 runs in 43.1 overs.

James Vince scored 38 runs while Philip Salt 35 runs. Chris Woakes hit 34 runs and skipper Jos Buttler bagged 26 runs.

Sam Curran posted 23 runs while Jason Roy registered 19 runs.

For Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan smashed four wickets for 35 runs. Taijul Islam and Ebadot Hossain shared two wickets each.

However, England won the series 2-1 after winning the first two matches respectively by three wickets and 132 runs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka.
