The attack took place yesterday in a village near the city of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state.
Farm workers tied up and throats slit, leader of anti-jihadist militia said, “It is without a doubt the work of Boko Haram, who is active in the area and regularly attacks farmers.”
But the exact circumstances in which the agricultural workers died is still unclear. According to the United Nations, gunmen on motorcycles shot and killed the men and women who were working on the land.
“The incident is the most brutal attack on innocent civilians this year,” said Edward Kallon, the UN humanitarian coordinator in Nigeria.❐
