Bangladesh has noticed suspicious movements of Myanmar troops by fishing trawlers on Bangladesh-Myanmar border since early Friday.
In addition to asking reasons behind the activities, Bangladesh has issued a message to stop the suspicious movement on the border.
According to sources of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Myanmar’s ambassador in Dhaka Aung Kyaw Moe was summoned to the ministry on Sunday (September 13) in protest of deploying troops near the border.
Bangladesh has asked Myanmar to take immediate steps to end misunderstandings between the two countries by stopping these suspicious activities. At the same time, a diplomatic letter was handed over to the Myanmar ambassador, according to sources.
It was learnt that Myanmar troops disembarked from trawlers at three points on the international border between the two countries on Friday morning. At least one of these three points is within 200 meters of the international border.
At those three points, the soldiers have been gathered covering by wood of fishing trawler. It is estimated that more than a thousand Myanmar troops were brought on Friday alone.❐
