Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk: The Election Commission has asked local administration across the country not to permit the holding of any religious programme until the 11th parliamentary election is held.
About the religious events which have already got permission, the EC took a decision that executive magistrate of the respective area will deal with the matter, a deputy secretary of the commission told The Daily Star.
Earlier, returning officers, during their recent meeting with the Chief Election Commission told that political speeches come from waz mahfil (sermon session) that can hamper the peaceful polls atmosphere.
In response to their concern, the commission this night came up with the decision by imposing restriction on all religious event for smooth holding of the national election, the EC official added.
