Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said his party and Jatiya Oikyafront would stay beside the victim who was gang-raped in Subarnachar area of Noakhali, a day after elections.
Fakhrul along with top leaders of Oikyafront visited the victim, who is now undergoing treatment at Noakhali Sadar hospital.
Patting the victim’s head, an emotional Fakhrul said, “We will remain beside you. You don’t have to fear from now.”
It is a brutal act and justice must be ensured, the BNP leader said.
Fakhrul on behalf of BNP and the Oikyafront handed over financial aid to the victim’s family members for treatment and other purpose.
After visiting her, Fakhrul talked to journalists where he criticised the government for depriving the countrymen of their voting rights.
He said the ruling party will turn into the enemy of the people.
Claiming that Awami League has taken an anti-people stance, Fakhrul said, “We think we are entering a dark era.”
The ruling party has moved to establish its “one-party rule as part of its blue print”, the BNP leader said.
“We along with the countrymen will resist against such acts,” he added.
