–PM rules out BNP’s demand for “supportive govt”
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today in parliament outlined the nature of election-time government.
She said the election-time government would be smaller in size and the Election Commission will play its role.
“The election-time government will only carry out its routine works and it will not take any decision on policy matters,” she said in reply to a lawmaker’s query.
In a question, lawmaker Tanvir Imam wanted to know what the government is thinking about BNP’s demand for a “supporting government” to hold the next parliament election.
Responding to the lawmaker’s query, the premier said there is no provision in the constitution about the “supporting government”.
She said BNP was formed through martial law declaration violating the constitution. Therefore it is their habit to make something illegal demand, she added.
The BNP’s unconstitutional demand for “supporting government” will not be acceptable anyway, said Hasina.
