Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam said that the process of dismissing 26 police personnel, who were found positive in dope tests, has started.
The DMP Commissioner said this while inaugurating the office of the newly formed Mirpur Traffic Division on Saturday morning.
“We have carried out dope test on suspected members of police. 26 of them were found to be positive. The process of dismissing them has started,” he said.
Shafiqul Islam expressed hope that the action will send a clear message to the rest that none will be spared for involvement with drugs.
Actions are being taken against policemen who involved in drugs in the same way as police take action against drug traders, he added.
DMP Additional Commissioner (CTTC) Md Monirul Islam, Additional Commissioner of Police (Administration) Mir Rezaul Alam and other senior officials were present at the time.❐
