India’s opposition Congress party has planned to march to the Rashtrapati Bhawan (Indian President’s official residence) from the parliament and then besiege the Prime Minister’s official residence on August 5 as part of its nationwide protest against price hike.
The announcement by Congress to hold the nationwide protest came soon after both the Houses of the Parliament of India witnessed multiple disruptions this week over the spiraling price of essentials in the country, NDTV reported.
A debate on the ongoing price hike is likely to be held at the Lok Sabha on Monday, followed by Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
Since the ongoing parliament session began on July 18, Congress has been raising the issue of rising prices and GST in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, the NDTV report added.
