Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members have seized the passports of Regent Group Chairman Md Shahed alias Shahed Karim and his father.
In a drive at the Uttara Branch of Regent Hospital and Regent Group head office on Saturday, they also collected some important evidence, including a computer hard disk.
The elite force said the drive was conducted for the sake of investigation into the scam.
Earlier, a mobile court sealed off Regent Group head office and its two hospitals in Uttara and Mirpur following a drive by elite force Rab.
Rab also filed a case against 17 persons, including Shahed, on charge of Covid-19 certificate forgery and illegally taking money from patients.
Earlier on Thursday, Bangladesh Bank (BB) instructed all the banks to freeze Shahed’s accounts for the next 30 days.
Meanwhile, Rab filed a case against Shahed for various irregularities, fraudulence, breach of contract with the government and giving false reports of corona test.
Police also imposed a restriction on his departure of the country in the interest of proper investigation of the case.
Police on Thursday sent a letter to the immigration department in this regard.
