Sharmin Jahan, the assistant registrar of Dhaka University (DU), has been suspended for allegedly tarnishing the image of DU, the country’s highest educational institution.
This information has been given in a press release sent from the public relations office of DU on Sunday. At the same time, she was sent a notice to show cause within seven working days.

The notification says Assistant Registrar of Dhaka University Moshammat Sharmin Jahan was conducting business without the permission of the university during her study leave; which is against the rules and regulations of the university.

Besides, she has tarnished the image and reputation of the university (DU) as she is under remand in police custody, in a case lodged by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in connection to supplying fake N-95 masks. In this situation, Assistant Registrar of Dhaka University Moshammat Sharmin Jahan has been suspended from her job at the university on Sunday.

Earlier, the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court put Sharmin Jahan in a three-day remand for questioning in the case filed by the BSMMU authorities in connection to supply the fake N-95 mask.

Earlier on July 23, the BSMMU Proctor filed a case against Sharmin Jahan at Shahbagh Police Station.

Later, Sharmin was arrested from a house in Shahbag around 10 pm on Friday.

It is alleged that Sharmin Jahan’s company Aparajita International was conducted to supply N-95 masks to BSMMU Hospital. But the company provides fake masks, and the company has embezzled a huge amount of money by supplying fake masks, at the same time. ❑
