Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk: Law Minister Anisul Huq today said the time to discuss over the recently passed Digital Security Act 2018 is not over yet.

“I can say, I didn’t breach my promise. Time is not over yet,” Anisul Huq told a questioner after a programme at the Supreme Court Bar Association auditorium this afternoon.

Sampadak Parishad on September 30 held a meeting with the law, information, posts, telecommunications and IT ministers and with a media adviser to the prime minister to discuss the Digital Security Act.

The Parisahd took part in the meeting responding to a request of the information minister postponing their human chain which was scheduled to be held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka.

Earlier in the day at a press conference at Jatiya Press Club, the Parishad said: “Nothing has been done in spite of public commitment by three ministers and media adviser to the PM to raise our concerns to the cabinet and open a dialogue with the stakeholders to work out acceptable changes in the Digital Security Act.

“We consider it to be a breach of the trust that the Sampadak Parishad has reposed on the three ministers,” Shyamal Dutta, editor of Bhorer Kagoj, and a member of the Parishad said while reading out the written statement of the Parishad.

Asked about Parishad’s comment, Law Minister said that as the law has already been passed in the parliament, he has to place their (Parishad’s) concern at the cabinet before discussing over the law.

“I did not place the matter before the cabinet yet… However, time to keep my promise is not over yet. I can say that I did not breach my promise,” he said.
