Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk: A BNP team went to the Election Commission (EC) to submit 13 separate letters on different issues including violation of electoral code of conduct by the ruling party men.
The issue of the arrest of BNP leaders and activists after the announcement of election schedule was also included in one of the letters, said Sayrul Kabir Khan, a staff of the BNP chairperson’s media wing, told The Daily Star.
BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal is leading the four-member team, Sayrul said.
Alal, on November 20, led a team which submitted five letters to the EC bringing allegation of not ensuring a level-playing field ahead of the 11th parliamentary election scheduled for December 30.
BNP, which did not participate in the January 5, 2014 election, has formed an election alliance Jatiya Oikyafront and announced to take part in the upcoming 11th parliamentary election.
After forming the alliance, BNP has been claiming that the Election Commission has not yet been able to create level-playing field ensuring equal opportunities for all political parties ahead of the election.
WHEN IS THE ELECTION?
Election Commission has revised polls schedule, deferring the 11th general election by a week to December 30 – a decision taken earlier on November 12.
The authorities have fixed November 28 as the deadline for filing nomination papers, December 2 for scrutiny and December 9 last date of withdrawal.
The move came following demands from several opposition political parties.
