Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) said Sunday that people are “not safe in Donald Trump’s America,” citing the recent police violence against Black people, demonstrations and the coronavirus pandemic.
“This isn’t just happening in one place,” the former 2020 presidential candidate noted on ABC’s “This Week.” “It’s happening all over the country. It is happening under Donald Trump’s watch.”
“We are not safe in Donald Trump’s America,” she added. “Not only have we seen an increase in hate crimes, not only have we seen increases in crime, but we have seen 3,600 people die during the Republican Convention, Jonathan. Now over 180,000 people that died from this coronavirus.
Klobuchar’s remarks come as protests over police brutality have erupted in Kenosha, Wis. and continued in Portland, Ore. and Minneapolis, leading to some fatal shootings.
Demonstrations in Kenosha were sparked after video last week showed police shooting Jacob Blake at least seven times in the back as he opened a door of his SUV.❐
“I have long condemned looting, violence, threats,” Sen. Amy Klobuchar tells @jonkarl when asked about Trump supporters confronted, intimidated by protesters.
