Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today raised a finger on BNP’s source of money for hiring a lobbyist to influence the US administration.
“Where does BNP get so much money? We will not bow down to anybody’s pressure,” Quader said this while addressing a programme in Dhaka this noon.
The BNP has hired the services of two US-based firms to lobby the Trump administration on its behalf, according to the US portal Politico.
The contract with Blue Star is worth $20,000 a month in August and $35,000 a month for the rest of the year. Rasky Partners is working as a subcontractor to Blue Star; its cut is $10,000 a month in August and $15,000 a month for the remainder, Politico said.
Referring to the deal, Quader said his party’s does not have any objection over the issue, “but the questionable matter is how BNP did this? Can they do this? Was there any necessity?” Quader said.
Quader added, after failing to wage a movement, some leaders of BNP went to lodge allegation with the United Nations. “Our base is not weak. Only the countrymen can put pressure on us. Otherwise, we will not bow down to anyone.”
