Hindustan Surkhiyan Desk: At least 13 people were killed and 22 others injured as a bus collided head-on with a human hauler (leguna) on Natore-Pabna highway in Baraigram upazila of Natore this afternoon.

All the deceased were passengers of the human hauler, but their identities could not be known immediately, reports our Natore correspondent quoting police.

The accident took place at around 4:00pm as the Rangpur-bound bus of Challenger Paribahan collided with the human hauler coming from opposite direction at Clickmore area on the highway, said Shamsur Noor, officer-in-charge of Banpara Highway Police station.

The OC said 10 passengers of the human hauler died on the spot and 25 passengers of both the vehicles were injured as the accident occurred.

Three other passengers of the human hauler succumbed to their injuries on the way as they were being taken to Banpara Amina Hospital, the police official also said.

On information, a team of Fire Service and Civil Defence and several teams of police from Lalpur Police Station and Banpara Highway Police Station rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation.

The other injured persons were taken to different hospitals, including Natore Sadar Hospital and Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH), he added.

Meanwhile, the district administration has announced to give Tk 20,000 to the family of each deceased and Tk 10,000 to the injured people, said Shahina Khatun, deputy commissioner of Natore.
